Leicester YMCA - Our Charity of Choice

We believe every young person deserves a safe place to call home, that's why we are supporting Leicester YMCA this Christmas. The Leicester YMCA provides safe, warm, supported accommodation to 120 homeless young people and those with disabilities in Leicester across the age ranges of 16 to 25 years old in their two main sites in Leicester City Centre, near Leicester train station on London Road and their other site in Aylestone, they also have a mix of one-bed studio flats and move-on houses that give their residents the independence and support they need to manage independent living.

The Leicester YMCA recognises that, when young people become homeless, they are left vulnerable, open to violence and abuse, more susceptible to criminal behaviour and drug and alcohol abuse and they do what they can to stop young people sleeping rough. But they can't do it without your help.

Leicester YMCA, The Y Leicester, Logo

Every young person who moves into the Leicester YMCA (more commonly known as The Y in more recent years) will have a dedicated keyworker and a support pathway, ranging from 24 hour high support needs, to semi-independent, low support for our one bed flats and shared move-on houses. Support includes;

  • Educating young, homeless people to manage their money and budget better.
  • Providing engaging activities and courses to help young people become proactive, productive members of society.
  • Supporting young people's personal development with clear strategies and one-to-one support from key workers, housing officers and tutors.
  • Specialist Mental Health Access workers ensuring service users get the right help from the right places.
  • Supporting young, homeless people with learning difficulties and other disabilities with a dedicated Transitions team offering support towards independence for young people aged 16-25 years old.
  • Working with specialist organisations to promote a drug and alcohol free environment for homeless young people in an effort to keep young people from falling into one of the most common pitfalls of homelessness.

Donate to the Leicester YMCA or Sponsor a Move-On House

You can donate to the Leicester YMCA now to help end youth homelessness today or you can invest in the young people of the future by sponsoring a house, providing five young people a warm, safe home each night and achieve a high, social return on investment this Christmas; it will cost just £6'000 to fund a YMCA Move-On House open for a whole year. This will also make a fantastic gift idea for Christmas 2018.

Our Landlord's Guarantee

We guarantee to save you money and still provide a top-class service. We're well known throughout Leicester and are regularly recognised in the media for our commitment to good practices and transparency, as well as our ability to maximise your income generated from your property investment. Our fees are deliberately kept simple, clear and easy to understand and we provide free advice to landlords to ensure their compliant with ever-changing legislation surrounding their property investments. This is why we guarantee to save you money if you find a better value property management deal in Leicester on a like-for-like basis.

We don't believe in charging renewal fees so you can continue to be our customer, whether you're a landlord or tenant. Nor do we charge ridiculous fees that should be included as part of our management fee because, well, they're included in our management fee.

Looking to sell your home?

Our property sales strategy allows you to sell your home without paying us any fees. In fact, we charge the buyer to purchase your home meaning your risk is completely minimised! On average, our properties sell within 56 days, including completion and sell for at least 95% of the market value.

If we find a buyer and, for whatever reason, the sale doesn't complete within the 56 days, you will be free to relist your property with the buyer paying compensation from their deposit to you for the hassle, so you'll never be out of pocket. Best of all, you'll never be part of a chain where, if one person pulls out of a sale further up the chain, it could cause buyers and sellers to lose thousands.

Property Investors

If you're looking for your next investment opportunity then you're in the right place. Harry Albert Lettings & Estates regularly discover fantastic property investment deals and have several investment opportunities available for investors who have access to capital to invest. Our investment opportunities include collective property investment companies and buy to let investments. Many of our property investment deals are off-market so be sure to get in touch and ask us about our latest investment opportunities!

Moving to or investing in Leicester

Leicester is a vibrant and multicultural city in the East Midlands. It’s the largest economy in the East Midlands and our population has boomed in recent years. Leicester is considered one of the top places to live and work in the UK and property to rent and buy is always in high demand. Leicester has a wide range of bars, restaurants, shops, markets and entertainment, it's also one of the most multiculturally diverse cities in Europe with religious and spiritual festivals celebrated year round. Leicester has some of the best connected train, road and public transport links connecting you to London, Birmingham, Cambridge and beyond, or you can take a train to somewhere more closer to home, including Syston, South Wigston, Hinckley or Nuneaton. We also have hundreds of cycle routes to enable cyclists to travel safely through and around the city.

The Highcross is Leicester’s main shopping centre and is packed with entertainment, with more than 100 stores, restaurants, bars and a multiplex cinema, The Showcase Cinema Deluxe. We also have The Haymarket Shopping Centre on Kildare Street in Leicester city centre which opened in 1973 and next door but very much part of the same building is the world famous Haymarket Theatre which was closed for nearly a decade but has reopened in March 2018. The atmosphere in Leicester is always welcoming and family friendly. There’s also several heritage and history spots like the British Gas Museum next door to Cadence and British Gas on Aylestone Road and New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, the many conservation areas like in Highfields and Belgrave village and the award-winning National Space Centre. In 2012, the body of King Richard III was found under a car park in the city next to the iconic Leicester Cathedral and a new visitor centre was opened close to the site to tell the impressive story of Richard III and his reign. Our favourite part of Leicester's history is the Victorian history reflected in many areas of the city, including the slums on Hastings Road, near the city centre and the Victorian hosiery industry near Grace Road.

Leicester is home to the world famous Leicester City Football Club and Leicester Tigers and has a massive sporting culture with Loughborough University specialising in sports education. Leicester City Council and the local schools and clubs in Leicester have various initiatives that promote healthy eating and active lifestyles, including Active Leicester where you can take part in leisure swimming or other sports, including Golf at Hamilton Park Golf Club, cricket at Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket and many more.

Leicester has several high-ranking schools that are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, including Soar Valley College, Rushey Mead Secondary School, Roundhill Academy, Leicester College, Leicester Grammar School and Fairfield Preparatory School. All of whom have above average pass rates and are recommended by Harry Albert Lettings & Estates.

So, whether you’re looking to rent or buy a home near a station, park or particular school, or you're a landlord looking to invest in the city or looking to buy your next home in Leicester, Harry Albert Lettings & Estates can help.

Leicester is also home to a thriving creative industry and many business start-ups. Many of Leicester University’s graduates stay here once they qualify, so there’s a dynamic and young population of professional tenants looking for rental property in Leicester.

We provide a hands-on service and are always on hand to support our clients, including tenants. We believe in a fairer approach to lettings and sales and this is iterated in our Fair Fee Guarantee and our Landlord Guarantee so we don't charge any silly fees; in fact, we believe in complete transparency when it comes to our fees and charges. We believe the private rented sector should be fair and as such, we keep our tenant fees to a minimum and we don't take away from our landlord's return on investment and secure the highest value for their property when you come to sell your house or leasehold property.

We judge all tenants on their own merits and are well known for our fair and affordable tenant fees and other innovative products available to cut the cost of moving into a new private rented property. We never discriminate against tenants who claim benefits including housing benefit, often known as DSS. However, we also must adhere to strict affordability criteria and any conditions set by our landlord clients' lenders and insurance providers. We want to work with Shelter and Generation Rent, as well as The Tenants Voice and other charities to make renting to tenants on benefits more attractive to landlords in the private rented sector and we are promoting open, honest discussion between landlords and tenants, tenant and housing charities and public organisations, including the government, to come up with solutions to improve and make the private rented sector accessible to all, including low income tenants.
